Opalized Wood and Sleeping Beauty Turquoise Earrings in Sterling Silver
Opalized Wood and Sleeping Beauty Turquoise Earrings in Sterling Silver
The colors in these stones are incredible! A gorgeous pair of opalized wood in a lovely, soft green that melts into a bright turquoise blue at the bottom of the stones, is set in sterling silver. I've matched these stones with long ovals of bright Sleeping Beauty turquoise that dangle below. It almost looks as if the top stones are absorbing the blue from the turquoise. The earrings measure 2 7/16-inches, (62 mm), from the top of the handmade sterling ear wires, to the silver ball accents below the turquoise. I've cut out the backs to lighten them up a bit. A bright, striking pair of statement earrings that will be perfect for spring and summer!
***Indonesian petrified wood with blue/green opal is found in Garut, West Java and the source was first discovered in 2017. It is a petrified wood with manganese and copper deposits. Green opal is associated with the heart chakra and is believed to give courage to its wearer while releasing anxiety and fear.***
***Sleeping Beauty turquoise comes from the Sleeping Beauty Mine near Globe, Arizona. It is known for its solid, bright blue color without much matrix. The mine was closed in the summer of 2012 until further notice, so this turquoise is becoming more expensive and difficult to find. Associated with the throat chakra, turquoise has long been considered a protective stone by many different cultures. ***
Made one pair at a time in my Sonoran Desert studio. xo
